Alyeska is a true adventure capital! Skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding, helisking just to name a few of the adventures available.
The Hotel Alyeska is nestled at the base of Alyeska Resort where the tram comes to the back door of the hotel to whisk you up to the top of the mountain and the view of 7 Glaciers! This deluxe ski in ski out hotels has wonderful onsite amenities including full service spa, saltwater pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, many amazing restaurants and a wake up call for the Aurora Borealis! Guests can request a wake up call if these beautiful lights come out - truly a unique experience.
Combining a trip to Anchorage along with your stay in Alyeska is something I would recommend. Anchorage is the home to the ceremonial start of the Iditarod. This is the 1st Saturday of March every year. 4th Avenue in downtown Anchorage is closed down for the 80 dogsleds and mushers getting ready to start the adventure of a lifetime. It is a wonderful celebration and grilled reindeer sausage abundant.
Alaska is one of my favorite places - winter or summer. Please let me know if I can help with any of your travel plans.
Alyeska – Only in Alaska! Ask for a Northern Lights wake-up call.
For a truly unique skiing experience, the Alyeska ski resort in Girwood Alaska is at the top of my list. Located a mere 40 miles from Anchorage, Alyeska is a family friendly ski resort with 1400 skiable acres. It has beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert terrain with 52% of its terrain weighted towards the advanced intermediate skier. I would say that overall, Alyeska is a challenging mountain to ski, but even the non skier can enjoy the tram ride. The views are beautiful, especially from the top where the 4-star Seven Glaciers restaurant is located. Located at the base of the tram is the modern 300-room Alyeska hotel. If you're interested, and you should be interested, ask the front desk to notify you during the night when the Northern lights are out. It's a site you will never forget! Aleyska is not only for the winter months either. It offers plenty of hiking and biking in the summer to round things out. Call me at ext 3692 or email me bill@ski.com and let's plan a great Alaskan adventure!Average
