A ride on the cogwheel train is also a great day activity for non-skiers, as they too, can enjoy the dramatic, high Alpine scenery.

    With pistes above 8,000 feet, skiers and boarders can enjoy Interlaken skiing year-round. Beginners will best enjoy Wengen’s variety of “learn to ski” zones and gentle slopes. Intermediates have an unbeatable selection of terrain at all three resorts. Experts will find that Wengen and Murren offer more challenging off-piste runs and groomed steeps. Wengen and Murren are home to two of the world’s longest—and most popular—downhill races. Wengen is home to the legendary World Cup event Lauberhorn, where downhill racers reach speeds of 100 mph while descending the nearly three-mile course. Mürren is the home of the Inferno, an annual downhill race both attracting over a thousand competitors. The Inferno race course drops from the 10,059-foot Schilthorn to a valley just above Interlaken, at 2,611 feet.
