If you’re on the hunt for snowy South America ski vacation, Termas de Chillan should be a top choice. Termas de Chillan, which is also known as Nevados de Chillan, is situated on the sunny side of the Andes Mountains where snow from the cold current of the Pacific Ocean offers a long lasting season. Termas enjoys 400 inches of snow annually, minimal crowds and offers its visitors a unique variety of terrain, including above-treeline powder bowls, glades and South America's longest trail (it’s eight miles long). The ski resort is situated on the side of dormant volcano, and the area is world-renowned for its soothing hot springs. There’s nothing quite like soaking in a thermal pool after a full day on Termas de Chillan terrain. Lodging accommodations range from the deluxe five-star Gran Hotel Termas de Chillan, to the budget-conscious Hotel Pirigallo.

Termas de Chillan is located 300 miles south of Santiago, the capital of Chile. Santiago is an international hub for travel. From there you can opt to rent a car or take a ground transfer to Termas de Chillan. Or you can hop on a short flight to Concepcion, the major airport in the region; a shuttle transfer can bring you to the resort.

Termas de Chillan Ski Resort

With over 3,500 vertical feet of skiing, you can understand why Termas de Chillan has become a popular spot of ski racing training, and those who fancy themselves as race pros. Expert and advanced intermediate skiers will love the ski area’s unique, playful terrain. Volcanic lava flow over the millennia has created completely unique bowls, gullies and natural half pipes. And unlike other Chilean resorts, Termas offers some tree skiing. Backcountry adventures will be delighted with the areas access, as well as cat skiing. Even cross-country enthusiasts will be pleased with Termas de Chillan’s network of prepared tracks through forests is maintained for avid cross country skiers.
